oh my god I just saw the Lain tux icon on your telegram bot you're the best LMAO
Great video
The "this action will have consequences..." is such a nice detail love it!
Hey Wolfgang, just wanted to let you know that I bought that exact same soldering iron based on your video: it was just what I needed for my GBA SP mod. I love it so far. Thank you! Prost!
Hello there ;) any recommendations for power settings in the bios or in truenas settings ? Like cpu power or disk power management ? Thanks !
Hey there ! great video ! Built exactly the same kit following your tutorial :) TrueNas Scale install went well, but none of the SATA HD are recognized, event in bios… any idea ?
Have you tried with different cables?
@@WolfgangsChannelI did :/ I get power on the cable because fans are on it too. Drives work on their own in a cradle. Trying bios default settings now
bios defaults didn’t do much :/
@@WolfgangsChanneltried to plug another sata HD and it powered… wondered if it comes from my WD 12tb drives I bought refurbished ?
You might be facing a 3.3V SATA pin issue. Luckily, the fix is pretty easy www.instructables.com/How-to-Fix-the-33V-Pin-Issue-in-White-Label-Disks-/
I could get the Board here in China…for 400Eur with this Adapter 😂
If you would rebuild your perfect home server from 1 year ago which board/CPU you would use nowadays?
I would use the purple N100 NAS board from CWWK. Those are just like their N5105 boards, but come with an ASM1166 controller and an LGA115x cooler mount, so you can bring your own cooler.
Why do I get a sneaking suspicion that he has some pirated softies in that deluge.
KOAN Sound ❤
I picked up a Dell 1U R210II for $50 has room for 2 3.5". Not blazing fast but very solid machines and uses around 30w idle
Hotmelt glue has millions of uses in computers
But what about the size of the image ? It will be huge right ?
Get em Wolfgang……f them haters
I have one of those Chinese NAS N100 boards. I'm running Ubuntu and was wondering if you knew of some guides or tips to cut down power consumption more than standard, if at all possible.
I know it’s been awhile but I’m pretty sure the reason unraid locks up with powertop auto tune is the intel 2.5g NIC. I have that issue with my Asus board but my asrock one with a Realtek Nic works fine. I put in a Realtek nic and disabled the Intel NIC and no more lockups with auto tune. There is also another version of the n5105 board that is green and it has the asmedia 1166. Though there’s report of the bios not supporting ASPM without mods. IDK I just ordered one to see if I can get lower idle draw vs my 10850k system. (Currently 67w with 14hdds and 4 SSD’s spundown)
Why are you using that fucked terminal font 😭
Big thanks to this video! Finally I got it working!
Sounds like an addict justifying moderation
Well i mean it kind of will. Twitter degenerates wont nearly use the pc version as much as the phone one. Same with RUclips and pretty much everything else. Its like being a heroin addict and having to drive 100km to get the fix vs having your dealer downstairs. Not even comparable. Yes, a dumb phone might just be what most people need. How suatainable will this be long term? Eh, mileage may vary i guess.
Not sure if someone already mentioned it in the comments, but you also pay for egress data in S3. I've had the same setup for my photos. And when my NAS failed and I had to restore it from S3, I had to pay like 700 dollars in egress costs. one way to circumvent this is to download the max amount per month for the free tier and then download another part the next month etc etc.
is there a way to setup a SSD-cache at a low level, ie. in BIOS so the cache works on sector or block level?
Linux users exist? 💀
I was excited to try this out until you said vim, but I guess there's some people who made VIM compatible to dvorak
what about Neural Engine? I would like to run a local LLM on my server. Is mac mini a better alternative?
Can you use a usb for linx on a phone 📱 iPhone
very informative video! I could take a lot out of it for my next build.
I see that there is AME 21H1. Is this an update to the 1903 AME project? What does this add?
Did you considered the Asus Prime N100I-D D4, very similar to the Asrock?
Regarding the price comparison (amazon vs your solution) you forgot to include that with your solution you have control over your data & your data is stored next to you and no cloud scanner is scanning your data, and this priceless.
Not sure what this guy is saying but he sounds like he knows what he’s talking about
Another option for a power supply is a Mean Well unit. More efficient and smaller footprint than an ATX PSU but not "janky" like laptop power bricks that are not really meant for continuous use and can overheat under sustained load.
I like the case and its single large fan, but I wouldn't trust that cheap hardware made by Topton and similar Chinese companies in terms of durability/dependability. Just get a N100 board from Asrock or Asus and branded RAM/NVME if you are actually going to be using the unit and not just making a video. Also (as you mention) 2.5G is serviceable but not exactly cutting edge. If you are going through the trouble of building your own unit, you might as well add a proper SPF+ NIC for at least 10G. More generally for a "homelab" networking architecture I would rather use a low power CPU like this for a bare metal firewall router and have a separate physical server with a stronger CPU to host non-critical services such as game and file servers.
Ah nice, so if law enforcement wants your logs they just need to go to linode
I will NEVER build a pc to be my home server. If I bought a used pc, and put in a bigger hard drive and put Linux on it, that would be different.
I've set this up, so it should work as far as I can tell. But for some reason, it keeps redirecting me to my router web. UI despite the Destination NOT being the router web UI.
Does this have auto renewals of certs ?
okay, perhaps you can help. I followed the video for DuckDNS i'm running a docker image of NGINX in container station on a QNAP NAS, working and I was able to get my certificates and wildcard cert from let's encrypt. However, when I add a proxy-host for NGINX for the webport and navigate to the new domain, I get the NAS's login page instead of the NGINX page, I tried with name, with IP of NAS, with admin port, and with the forwarded port. I always seem to end up at the admin page of NAS. Do I need to forward port 80 and port 443 from the router to the NGINX proxy instance for this to work?
It works....but chrome still shows 'dangerous site' (beacause of enhanced security turned on in settings) on https connections like portainer. Turning the "Safe Browsing" settings to "Standard protection" fixes this.
the liquid metal compound requires 2 applications about a week or so appart, if the laptop has daily use. The higher temps of the first week will chemically fuse the compound to the surfaces it is applied, and a gap will be created, between the cpu and the thermal plate. But both surfaces are now in prime condition for the heat transfer that will happen when the second application is done and this gap is filled with more liquid metal.
All the files gets remove once we shutdown is there anyway we can we can save it for later as well.
5:13 AES-NI Support
I love your calm response to the critics, I have run into these crowds regarding GPU specs and the amount of blatant misinformation out there presented with bravado is incredible. Thanks for the video.
hey the site that has the patched bios isn't loading for me. It looked like it was getting blocked by my dns, so I tried changing that. and kept trying different things but basically anything I did didn't work. I saw that site linked somewhere else when looking earlier and it didn't work from there either.
What kind of stupid shit am i watching rn
Uninstall apps, definitive soution

There are still a group of people for which a dumbphone would be the right option because turning your phone into a dumbphone is just a software lock, so you could just remove the barriers. With the dumbphone, you pay for what you need and once you buy it, that's it. It's a barrier that you can't remove.
7:33 Samsung phones at least have a similar feature called Modes and Routines, or more specifically, the Modes part. The Routines part is closer to Siri Shortcuts.
